I randomly collect various RID related things I see around the web with the intent of eventually adding them in here. That’s been slowing down recently, but there are still some things I’ve never seen that pop up. Check out a small collection below from the last major update.
Prototype Scourge
An ebay auction for a “prototype” Scourge surfaced. The stickers are beat, have weird Decepticon logos that have become blurry. The eyes are greenish instead of the eventual red or Japanese pink.
RID Optimus Prime Standee
A human size cut out of RID Optimus Prime. This was at a Botcon and was for sale by Karl Hartman.
Transformers Universe Style Optimus Prime Entry
A pretty cool Marvel Comics Transformers Universe style entry for RID Optimus Prime. By Simon-Williams-Art
RID Magazine Ad
A magazine ad for the Robots in Disguise toy line as seen in a recent eBay auction. Shows off the Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime combination gimmick and features a cool retro box art style Omega Prime.
Transformers Legends Manga Cameos
Takara puts out a Manga comic which tells a story connecting all their Legends repaint figures. It’s a bonkers cross generational story, and the Car Robots / RID characters showed up to join the battle. Optimus Prime is wielding Galvatron in hand mode like a giant glove weapon, and Scourge now has an evil T-Ai. I’d like to see all that for real in comic/toon form! TFW2005 Newsie Black Convoy even recreated the Galva Smacker in toy form!
More Car Robots Production Samples
TFRaw.com shared out some production art for the Car Robots series. It’s similar to what I shared here, but different shots. I also have a copy paper sized box of this stuff that I never scanned in, I should probably get on that… Check out TFRaw’s site and social for some more, but it’s not CR/RID specific so you’ll need to dig around.
8 Bit Intro Songs and Animations
From user JX on YouTube – we now have 8 bit versions of the Car Robots AND Robots in Disguise intro songs. He does 8 bit scroller animations to match too! Great job on these, check em below.
Beast Era Magazine Book Featuring Car Robots
In Japan a Magazine Book (Mook) was released covering the Beast Era of Transformers toys. They included Car Robots as part of that era. I haven’t checked it out in person, but some samples are available on the web. It’s also available via Kindle on Amazon Japan.
